PERFORMANCE
MAZDA CX-5

Crossover SUVs allow drivers to enjoy the stealth of a sedan and the athleticism of an SUV. Models like the Mazda CX-5 and the Honda CR-V help drivers achieve the best of both worlds on every drive thanks to impressive powertrains and engine technologies.

Optimized Power

The Mazda CX-5 and Honda CR-V are both well-equipped, offering drivers the option of two powerful engines. The more basic of the two are Mazda’s standard Skyactiv®-G 2.5 engine and the Honda CR-V's 1.5L turbocharged 4-cylinder engine.

However, when you compare the two, the Mazda CX-5 offers more with 2.5 liters and 185 lb-ft of torque. Unfortunately, the Honda CR-V falls short of this offering 1.5 liters and 179 lb-ft of torque. While Honda does offer standard 2-wheel drive (2WD) or optional Real Time AWD™ (all-wheel drive), Mazda provides more in terms of gasoline powertrains.

Hair-Raising Rides

If you want more from your engine, both the Mazda and the Honda have a second more robust engine. The Mazda CX-5's strongest engine is a Skyactiv®-G 2.5 Dynamic Pressure Turbo engine. This engine, which works with a Skyactiv®-Drive 6-speed automatic transmission, pumps out a whopping 256 horsepower and 320 lb-ft of torque. The most advanced engine for the Honda CR-V is its 2-Motor Hybrid System offering 204 horsepower overall.

Another bonus of the Mazda CX-5 is G-Vectoring Control Plus. This standard system helps minimize the amount of corrective steering needed while driving for better control and less fatigue. Since this system is exclusive to Mazda, you won’t find it in the CR-V.

TECHNOLOGY
MAZDA CX-5

In today’s modern world, technology is all around us. Now, thanks to the innovative features of the Mazda CX-5 and Honda CR-V, it’s also inside your vehicle.

Crystal-Clear Connectivity

At the center of it all is Mazda’s standard 10.25-inch full-color touchscreen display. Nope, that’s not a typo.

How does the screen inside the CR-V look? Well, its standard size is only seven inches. With the Honda’s highest upgrade option being only a 9-inch touch-screen display, the Mazda CX-5 is clearly superior.

Play Your Favorite Albums

Both models will also provide standard access to both Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™ integration. Simply connect your compatible smartphone to send and receive text messages, listen to your favorite tunes, and much more.

Your audio will sound amazing in both SUVs since they each are available with a Bose® sound system. While their number of speakers is similar, only the Mazda’s surround sound system comes with Centerpoint® and AudioPilot®, which disperses sound into multiple channels to envelope you in symphony and muffle unwanted road noise.

SAFETY
MAZDA CX-5

When it comes to ensuring the safety of you and your passengers, nothing is more important. That’s why Mazda and Honda have implemented a series of safety and driver-assistive technologies into their vehicles.

Driver-Assistance Aids

For the Mazda CX-5, this is known as i-Activsense®, which includes standard features such as:

  • Lane Departure Warning with Lane-keep Assist
  • Advanced Smart City Brake Support with Pedestrian Detection
  • Blind Spot Monitoring with Rear Cross Traffic Alert

There’s also Mazda Radar Cruise Control with Stop & Go, which sets and maintains a speed range to keep a safe following distance from the vehicle ahead. If the vehicle in front of you reduces its speed or even comes to a stop, your car can adjust accordingly.

The Honda offers similar standard systems, too!

More Safety Features

However, only the Mazda CX-5 is available with a 360-degree View Monitor. This unique feature uses several cameras positioned around the CX-5 to craft a composite image of the Mazda’s topside. It will come in handy when parking or navigating out of small spaces.
